ASCO Shutoff Valve & Actuator

Harmony between Engineering & Design

Emerson Asco introduces a new shutoff valve that implements their new product design language in development.

A departure from a strictly engineering-informed aesthetic, the design of this new valve and actuator reflect what Emerson Asco stands for as an industry leader: expertise, reliability, and performance.

When applying design language to an Asco valve, it was of the utmost importance to use design to highlight function and performance rather than distract from it. Zukun worked to create consistent design elements that could be applied across all shapes and sizes of valves and would be recognizable and unique to the Asco brand. Carefully applied flowing chamfers follow internal geometry to elevate design of the valve while celebrating its function.

Simplifying geometry communicates confidence in expertise, robust transitions communicate reliability, and a flowing chamfer works with engineering-led geometry to communicate performance.

Zukun worked closely with Emerson Asco engineering teams to understand manufacturing processes and constraints. This resulted in a concept design that was able to be fully realized in the final production model without aesthetic compromise.
